Position Title: Revenue Settlement Analyst

External Description:

The Revenue Settlement Analyst attests to the accuracy and completeness of reported sales and ensures all forms of payment – cash, debit, credit, and alternative payment methods – are received, accounted for, and reconciled with Sales. The accountant is responsible for all brands; domestic and international; online and in-store transactions. The accountant partners with IT, Store Operations, Treasury, Loss Prevention, and Finance to manage the entire sales and payments processes to ensure operations are efficient, thorough, and in-line with the ever-changing business needs. Ensures that all downstream credit, cash, gift card, inventory accounting and general ledger systems are fed appropriately. Identifies and communicates potential sales reporting or related business issues on a timely basis. Supports all phases of the MI9 Merchandise Operations implementation as well as the bank reconciliation tool ReconNET.

This is hybrid position located in our Hingham, MA office.

What You'll Do:

  • Research and respond to daily chargeback reports for all credit processors. Issue chargeback reporting to Finance and other KnitWell partners.
  • Monitor data in ReconNet, Mi9 Sales Audit, and bank receipts to ensure balanced credit card settlement. Follow up with internal and external contacts to resolve variances in third party transactions. Issue daily receipt forecast to treasury.
  • Responsible for the daily, weekly, monthly, and year-end reconciliation and reporting of all sales related information.
  • Acting independently, identify, evaluate, communicate, and escalate all potential sales discrepancies to Tampa or the appropriate department. Determine and implement the appropriate corrective action.
  • Reconcile Cash/Credit Card payments using Trintech’s ReconNET™. Ensure and report that all tender activity including credit cards, debit cards, gift cards, MCOA, award dividends, coupons, cash, and checks have been processed and reported correctly in the GL and MI9.
  • Prepare sales/credit month-end entries to the General Ledger that are necessary and appropriate.
  • Identify and escalate any issues that may hinder cash collection/settlement or permit loss. 
  • Prepare requested materials for outside audit firms.
  • Responsible for knowing and understanding independent procedures, philosophies, and systems for the Talbots brand. This includes Oracle, General Ledger, ReconNET, MI9, MAO and CDS.
  • Work with Store Operations and Loss Prevention teams when identifying store training issues to ensure support is provided to mitigate potential shortage risks.
  • Assist the department manager with all special projects and systems testing and identify and act upon opportunities for improving methods and procedures.
  • DIMENSIONS:
    • Responsible for validating sales activity from all channels and brands ranging from $3 - $20 million per day, or more than $1.3 billion annually, from more than 500 locations in the US and CN.
    • Responsible for the weekly accounting of $1.5 million in store cash drawer funds
    • Ensuring approximately 2,500 sales registers poll accurately and timely daily.

  • Internal –District Directors, Managers and Supervisors in Finance, Inventory Control, Internal Audit, Cash and Credit, Loss Prevention, Store Administration, Customer Service, Direct Marketing, Marketing, Purchasing and Store Operations.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelors degree in business or accounting with minimum 3-5 years job related experience.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills, excellent attention to detail, basic understanding of accounting principles, excellent PC skills (Excel and Access), strong communication, organization, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Experience with the reconciliation tool ReconNET
  • Associate degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • Passion and optimism for the work, business, brands & customers
  • Ability to follow up and follow through
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Full understanding of basic accounting principles (e.g., revenue recognition, expense matching)
  • Strong data mining skills (Experience with Excel or Micro Strategy)

  • Ability to reconcile large volumes of data using Excel and/or third-party reconciliation software (Trintech)
  • Flexibility to adapt and work in a fast-paced, structured environment.
