The Senior Manager of Print + Pattern & CAD will be responsible for leading both our CAD artwork creation and Print + Pattern execution teams.

The Print + Pattern team is responsible for the creation, development, and execution of seasonal prints, patterns and color from concept through production. The print team acts as a creative liaison between Design, CAD, Merchandising, Product Development, Sourcing, Fabric Research & Development, and Technical Design teams in the creation of prints that are both brand appropriate and technically ready for production.

The CAD team creates original artwork that is technically ready for design production as well as for visual presentations. It is the responsibility of this position to oversee interpretation of the design idea into a print that is suitable for the product category.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide advanced specialized expertise, guidance, and clear direction for Print & Pattern and CAD teams and collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to ensure the team's success and achievement of strategic goals.
  • Lead the collaboration of the Design team, CAD team, and outside studios/artists to develop focused and cohesive prints that are brand appropriate to sit within the collection.
  • Lead CAD team in the production of artwork on a seasonal basis that maintains the Talbots aesthetic in print design and that is technically ready for production. This includes prints, yarn dyes, and embroideries for both woven and knits and for all classifications.
  • Manage the creation and preparation of print packages, including CAD artwork/repeats/technical print information/specific placement measurements within calendar deadlines and ensure that they are technically ready for production. This includes prints, yarn dyes, jacquards, and embroideries.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of seasonal print chart, including ready dates of sample yardage, approval status, print placement, and any additional information specific to print.
  • Develop prints and completed art work for pre-season concepts to present to Merchant/Design teams in order to assist them in understanding global print direction.
  • Manage color comments/approvals on print submits, strike off/bulk submits in a timely fashion.
  • Train, develop, and manage team members, and lead annual as well as consistent performance appraisals.
  • Lead the charge with Sourcing, Product Development, and Fabric Research & Development to determine allocation of prints to specific factories/countries and to problem solve any bulk print issues.
  • Clearly and accurately communicate and resolve print issues/concerns/updates to cross-functional teams and overseas partners verbally and through detailed emails.
  • Collaborate with overseas partners to troubleshoot specific challenges with print development/execution.
  • Lead the team in creating presentation print boards and color cards for key Concept and Line Presentation meetings.
  • Ensure all deliverables from both teams are delivered on-time to product lifecycle calendar expectations.
  • Manage Internal and External Relationships: Designers, Merchant teams, Sourcing team, Product Development, Technical Designers, Fabric Research & Development team, Legal, Overseas agents, Mills/vendors, Print studios, Vintage vendors, Contract Artists

Who You Are:

  • College Degree and 10+ years’ experience in (textile/ design) print field.
  • Ability to interpret aesthetic design inspiration into production ready patterns.
  • Technical expertise in prints, color matching and creation of color ways.
  • Understanding of Photoshop and Kaledo in CAD creation and manipulation.
  • Previous experience managing a team.
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Ability to be resourceful, problem solve, be flexible and collaborative.
  • Ability to act as a creative liaison between Design, Merchant and Product Development teams.
  • Must be culturally aware and able to work with global partners.
  • Ability to be a self-motivator, proactive, and able to take direction.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative work environment.
  • PC proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Working knowledge of MS Teams, a plus.

The target salary range for this role is: $50/hr - $57/hr.
