External Description:
The Designer, Jewelry is responsible for creating innovative product designs through the seasonal vision and illustration of design concepts into a jewelry collection appropriate for the Talbots customer. The Designer will be instrumental in ensuring the designs are delivered in a timely fashion and within costs while maintaining quality and brand aesthetic.
The starting salary range is $80,000 - $100,000.
Freelance to perm is an option for this position.

What You’ll Do:
- Design and develop all jewelry styles. This entails all sketches, revisions and tech packs for approximately 150 styles per season.
- Approve and make comments on all styles at all product lifecycle milestones, handling multiple seasons at the same time.
- React to feedback from merchandising partners and modify designs throughout the process to achieve style and costing goals.
- Partner with Merchandising and Sourcing teams to set seasonal framework and ensure creative ideas and business goals are in tandem.
- Research global, domestic and competitive markets to identify new trends and techniques.
- Prepare trend presentations to share with factories, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
- Ensure that product is consistent with market trends while maintaining the Talbots brand integrity and business strategy.
- Possess a firm understanding of Talbots customer.
- Manage workload to adhere to all corporate development deadlines and milestones.
- Attend all jewelry meetings -- 2-3 times per week depending on season.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion or Design
- 7+ years of Accessories experience with an emphasis on women’s categories
- Proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Office including Excel
- Superior sketching ability with strong Illustrator skills and Photoshop
- Knowledge in CAD design preferred
- Work experience using MS Teams, a plus
- Experience working in PLM, a plus
- Ability to understand merchandising, sales, and branding components to successfully execute a strong jewelry collection that marries back to the apparel collection
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to positively influence partners and team (internally and externally) – ability to articulate and sell an idea

- Ability to initiate, anticipate needs and manage up
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to multitask and problem solve
- Team player who enjoys a collaborative work environment
