Position Title: Inventory Analyst

External Description:

The Inventory Analyst makes an immediate and daily impact on the Cross Functional Team and lives the values of the Talbots organization. They will contribute to the success of omni-channel inventory management activities by ensuring the flow of inventory to stores/direct/outlet is aligned with global strategies to maximize the company’s sales, inventory, and margin goals. They will collaborate on strategies with their Inventory Manager, Merchandising, and Planning partners.

What You’ll Do:

  • Accountable for executing inventory management strategies to maximize channel performance by achieving sales and margin goals, as well as inventory productivity.
  • Establish allocation strategies by volume group both preseason and in-season that support merchandising and financial objectives, utilizing breadth and depth targets that support unit sales, inventory, turns and margin expectations.
  • Analyze omni-channel selling by size and recommend optimum size and pack purchase strategies based on store/item/classification and key item level need.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising and Merchandise Planning preseason and in season, acting as the store expert and provide recommendations regarding store needs or attributing opportunities, as well as distribution concerns such as flow, breaks, sizing.
  • Responsible for analyzing your business and presenting strategies & conclusions during the hindsight process that that will help develop next season’s product strategies.

 Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years work experience in retail stores, allocation, or planning.
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to analyze and understand quantitative data.
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Excel, JDA Allocation, Data Warehouse Tools.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to work independently to logically solve problems and clearly present findings to a diverse group of business partners.
  • Self-Starter with strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong sense of work ethic and responsibility
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage commitments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
