Position Title: Import/Export Representative

External Description:

Basic Purpose:

This hourly position is a regulatory role and is responsible for managing the packing, document preparation, and shipping for all of Talbots Canada exports. Validate all Canada packing information and enter into the Integration Point export module. Work with Transportation Manager to schedule and load shipments according to floor set schedule. Perform draw back on appropriate duty payments using Integration Point draw back module. Monitor and trace all shipments to ensure timely arrival. Maintain recordkeeping requirements per US Customs regulations for all exports. Review and audit all shipments with Director of global Logistics and Customs Compliance. Support DC operations, Logistics and Compliance functions where necessary. Approximately 90% export-related and 10% import-related.

Principal Accountabilities:

- Prepare pack plan by floor set for all Canada retail floor sets. Validate floor set quantities and required ship dates.
- Work with Supervisor to determine labor requirements and pack all floor sets according to schedule.
- Resolve discrepancies in pack plan.
- Prepare shipment documentation using Integration Point export module.
- Arrange transportation and load shipments on schedule.
- Track & trace freight movement for timely delivery and alert stores to schedule changes.
- Perform duty drawback function on all exports using Integration Point draw back module.
- Review/audit export documentation weekly with Director of Global Logistics and Compliance.
- Make recommendations for process change, and implement.
- Support all Distribution Center, Logistics and Compliance functions where necessary.

Education/Experience/Knowledge:
- Three years of relevant work experience packing and preparing domestic merchandise shipments and export shipments.
- At least one year of customer service, general office, or data entry experience.
- One year of customs brokerage, import/export experience preferred.
- Highest level of personal integrity and ethics required
- Strong understanding of business math and fundamental working knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word
- Ability to work well both independently and within a positive team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
- Must evidence excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- This position requires successful Federal background check to comply with Customs requirements.
