Position Title: Mgr Insurance

External Description:

Manage and administer workers compensation, liability, auto and property claims programs across multi-brand channels. Work in a team environment to respond to and service Talbots, Lane Bryant and Premiums Brand claim needs. Interact with associates, adjusters and internal and external counsel to ensure the thoughtful and timely delivery of benefits and claim responses for injured associates and clients. Oversee work of TPA and claims adjusters and timely and accurate case reserves. Approve reserve requests, negotiate and resolve claims. Investigate, document, and audit files as necessary. Partner with Manager of Occupational Health and cross-channel Asset Protection Teams to recommend measures and techniques to prevent similar claims in future. Manage the internal RMIS database and reports on loss data.

Manages two Insurance Claims Administrators and assures they are well trained and knowledgeable in the company’s programs.

What You'll Do:

Relationship building is essential. Maintain and enhance key partnerships to achieve superior performance and ensure timely claim service and deliverables. Relationships include Company Leadership, Legal and outside Counsel, Customer Service, Field Leaders, injured associates, TPA/Adjusters and Broker Claim Consultants.

- Manage Insurance Claims Adjusters and TPA Vendors in the administration of workers comp, general liability and auto claims.

- Manage and administer workers comp, general liability, auto liability claims and the reserving and settlement or claim closure process. Identify potential high value claims and develop, refine and implement a resolution strategy to include settlement planning, timing and results tracking.

- Establish and manage the MPN and managed care networks where applicable with the TPA/Insurers and partner with Company peers to roll out and maintain current programs.

- Secure and coordinate data for use in general liability claim litigation. Liaison between the Company and counsel in defense actions against the Company, and partners with the insurer or TPA to drive resolution of litigated claims.

- Coordinate and lead bi-annual or quarterly claim reviews with internal stakeholders, TPA, defense counsel and others as needed. Coordinate periodic file audits and individual review of high value claims as needed to ensure claim handling guidelines and best practices are adhered to.

- Monitor claim and litigation claim reserves ensuring notice is provided to the insurer of claims reaching or exceeding 50% of the Brands deductible or insurance limits.

- Manage first party property loss and business interruption settlements and recoveries across multiple channels, and third-party claim recovery process on the Talbots brand channel.

- Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements

- Participate in the safety committee process and add input on claim trends and opportunities

- Recruit, train, supervise, develop and provide leadership across multi-brands for the two Insurance Claim positions. Assess performance and provide feedback. Counsel or discipline, as required.

- Accounting and processing of all insurance claims related invoicing and costs, including overseeing the month-end property loss accrual process.

- Assist the Director of Insurance in producing underwriting submissions to insurers

- Oversee the certificate of insurance process – administered by Insurance Administrators

Who You Are:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field desired

- 5+ years in the insurance industry as an adjuster, underwriter, broker, or corporate insurance capacity is mandatory

- 3 years supervisory experience desired

- Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary

- Proficiency in Excel and Access

- Ability to read and interpret legal documents and insurance contracts

- Knowledge of insurance terminology and concepts
