Product Development Intern

The Talbots Corporate Retail focused Internship Program is designed to give rising juniors and seniors an opportunity to gain hands on insight and knowledge within a specialty Retail Company.

Students will be immersed in all things retail for approximately 12 weeks. You can expect a store visit, executive talks, professional development, a mentor and an opportunity to see a 360-degree view of the business in this timeframe. Students should expect that their experience may be a blend of onsite and virtual at times.

Our goal is to provide top performing interns with either an offer to return the following summer or an offer for full time employment post-graduation.

The Product Development Intern position will be responsible for assisting the Product Development team in managing the execution of product in partnership with Design, Merchandising, Tech Design, and Sourcing teams.  

What You’ll Do:

• Enter raw material information in company database for both trim and fabric.
• Assist in creation/tech pack update management in WebPDM.
• Create and maintain bill of materials (BOM) including primary fabric, color, and trim details.
• Organize and maintain fabric and trim library.
• Track samples and mock-ups timelines/deadlines/execution with overseas partners.
• Unpack, hang, and check samples for review with PD team.
• organize daily mail submits
• Set-up samples for meetings/presentations as needed.
• Attend weekly fittings with the cross-functional team.

 

Who You Are:

• Proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with database/WebPDM software preferred.
• Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• High level of interest in working in the Product Development or Apparel Design function post college graduation.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task deadlines and tracking for multiple seasons of product at a time.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
