Position Title: Mgr Payroll

External Description:

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll department to ensure payroll is processed accurately, timely and in compliance will GAAP, Federal, State and Local regulations as well as Talbots policy.

What You'll Do: 
• Manage the day to day payroll operations while developing a team capable of performing the department objectives.
• Develop and implement payroll procedures to ensure accurate and timely payments to associates
• Ensure all compensation related costs are accurately reflect and reconciled on the general ledger in accordance with GAAP
• Identify, analyze and test Workday payroll system processes working with the Human Resources and MIS departments staff.
• Research and review recent changes in federal, state and local compliance regulations and work within the team to ensure compliance by the Company
• Monitor all reportable sources of compensation developing procedures to ensure the accuracy of the taxation and ensure proper W-2 reporting.
• Assist with the compilation of various audit requests throughout the year

• Representatives from payroll service in Canada
• Lawyers and court officers (Wage Garnishments)
• Vendors (Ceridian and Alight)

 

Number of Direct Reports and Titles 

Who You Are:
• Knowledge and experience normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 5-8 years payroll experience in a supervisory position
• Knowledge of multi-state tax regulations
• Knowledge of wage and hour regulations
• Knowledge of garnishments
• Experience with automated payroll systems
• Intermediate general accounting and specific payroll accounting skills
• Excellent PC software applications skills particularly in spreadsheet applications
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
