Position Title: Retoucher
External Description:
Basic Purpose:
The Senior Retoucher is responsible for retouching on-figure and still life web thumbnail images. Imaging skills include high end retouching, color correcting and swatch matching to product samples. The Senior Retoucher will work closely with the Digital Imaging Supervisor to find new efficiencies in workflow and create actions as needed. The Senior Retoucher will be responsible for executing a high volume of images while maintaining consistency and Talbots’ brand standards. This individual will also partner with the Digital Imaging Supervisor to manage image review and delivery while ensuring that deadlines are met.
Principal Accountabilities:
- High end retouching, masking, color correcting and swatch matching within the RGB color space.
- Color correcting base images for multiple colorways.
- Develop an understanding of retouching expectations and standards to represent the Talbots brand.
- Review retouching work for consistency and accuracy.
- Work with Digital Imaging Supervisor to find new efficiencies in workflow.
- Meet daily image goals and display flexibility in order to meet deadlines.
- Partner with Digital Imaging Supervisor to identify and rectify missing/late images.
Dimensions:
This position impacts the sales results of the web site. This position also impacts the efficiency and work flow of high volume photography and post production of the In House Photo Studio.
Internal and External Relationships:
Internal – Art Directors, Fashion editors, project management and digital teams.
External – all freelance shoot personnel (photographer, assistants, producers)
Education/Experience:
- Must have 5+ years of professional experience in image retouching, editing, and/or photography.
- A college degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography or equivalent experience required.
- Fashion retail and/or e-commerce preferred.
- Proficiency in Photoshop CS with an understanding of curves, levels, color balance, masking, actions.
- Proficient in a MAC environment
- Strong visual skills with an eye for color and consistency.
- Extremely high attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Requires the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
