Position Title: Mgr Social Compliance

External Description:

Basic Purpose: 

To manage Talbots Social Compliance program of monitoring, measuring and remediating our supply chain workplace conditions in support of Talbots Vendor Code of Conduct. Seek to create and enhance supplier value through working with vendors and factories to achieve higher performances. Work on defining and developing local community philanthropic opportunities and engagements.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Coordinate Talbots Vendor Social Responsibility program globally including; program governance, approval setup, factory onboarding, supply chain responsibility guidance/ training, risk assessments, audit service provider management, audit comprehension, and remediation.
  • Continually make program assessments and propose changes to adapt Talbots CSR strategy to meet changing expectations (and regulations) of corporate social and environmental responsibility. 
  • Mange Talbots factory approval audit processes, assure on boarding audit is conducted prior to Talbots production; based on the audit findings, make an assessment and engagement recommendation.
  • Drive sustainable preventative action plans of root causes of social and environmental noncompliance’s through continuous improvement, training and capacity building.  Leverage agent’s services and direct access to factory management.  Agree on specific time-bound improvement plans. Collaborate with other brands to remediate issues in shared factories.
  • Provide robust and comprehensive data collection by assuring proper weighting of various issues and data collection into Talbots centralized tool/tracker building comprehensive factory reporting and vendor rating mechanisms.
  • Manage risk areas based on country, product, intellectual property, volumes, obligations and Talbots expectations. Monitor and report, trends in assessment findings and remediation progress.
  • Manage Talbots partnership with the International Labor Organization Better Work Program/Global team.
  • Represent and build on Talbots industry relationships/membership initiatives (BSR, AAFA, Elevate, Omega etc) to gain industry knowledge/benchmark, networking on global efforts, and protection.
  • Drive vendor segmentation and strategy initiative: segment factory base according to KPI’s.
  • Define a social responsibility goal around women’s empowerment(BSR)and make it a signature element.
  • Keep Talbots leadership abreast of trade and regulatory issues (CBP and forced labor, TPP, AGOA)
  • Assist in managing/leading Talbots’ in-house sustainability working group.
  • Develop communication materials related to CSR initiatives to all internal and external audiences (CSR’s portion of vendor guide, corporate website/digital channels)

 

Education/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years’ job related experience needed.
  • Supply Chain experience preferred
  • Strong business acumen
  • Highly organized
  • Results oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Plan comprehensively and implement strategies 
  • High level of person and professional integrity and ethics
  • Comfortable driving change in the face of ambiguity and complexity
