Position Title: eCommerce Merchandiser

External Description:

Basic Purpose:

The Talbots Web Merchandiser helps manage key aspects of the Talbots digital experience. In particular, the role is central to launching products on the website and ensuring customers have the relevant tools and information to make a buying decision. This right candidate is comfortable working with technology and data, which to help drive conversion, average order value, and offline foot traffic.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Manage data and set up of product shown on the web through the use of the Oracle Commerce Business Control Center (BCC) Content Management System (CMS). This relates to web product selling, i.e. product description, images, site placement, etc. to drive strong conversion, average order value, units per transaction and more.
• Use the Oracle (fka Endeca) Experience Manager application to manage display of products and marketing on our website.
• Work closely with Analytics and Online Marketing Teams to identify opportunities to refine site merchandising develop appropriate landing pages.
• Set up landing pages and featured categories to support online marketing. Keep track of all upcoming site content and emails and plan all associated changes. 
• Merchandise gallery views to maximize item and color selling. Maintain best assortment of product displayed in the galleries based on selling, inventory and color to present the most appealing offering.
• Collaborate with merchants to identify selling opportunities on the web. Establish a mutual lifeline with the merchant team to understand merchandise challenges and opportunities as they change regularly. This relates to product selling, deliveries, QA issues, etc.
• Set up, manage and optimize the Oracle Commerce on site search functionality. Maintain the dictionary of terms, investigate/resolve null search terms and apply redirects where appropriate. Regularly assess the live site search function on key terms and categories.

Education/Experience/Knowledge:

• Knowledge and experience at a level normally acquired through 1-2 years of merchandising experience in specialty retail sales.
• Experience with an ecommerce system such as Oracle (ATG/Endeca), Demandware, eBay Enterprise, etc. and/or equivalent experience on a relevant technology platform. Expertise in general website merchandising best practices a plus.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a collaborative team environment essential. Candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
