Position Title: Photo Studio Producer

About the Role: 

 Talbots is searching for a successful in-house Digital Producer with an extensive network and deep experience in a photo studio environment. This person will oversee every facet of studio production including agency and freelance talent relationships, contract/rate negotiations, casting and budgeting support. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external partners including: Creative, Operations, Visual, Catalog and Merchandising teams. This role reports into the Director of Operations and works with the studio creative and production teams to help plan and execute all fashion, still life, and editorial photo shoots; as well as video.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities:   

 Pre-Production:

  • Responsible for managing into shoot schedules, booking crews and talent
  • Booking travel, hotel and transportation to and from studio, confirming travel details in conjunction with NY casting agent, and communicating travel to crew, studio team and agencies
  • Creating and maintaining crew lists, call sheets, travel and car charts, and security documents
  • Plan into catering needs, holds / head counts and daily meal plans
  • Partner with Editors to confirm sample delivery, styling pieces, and fit days
  • Act as lead contact on set to keep shoots running smoothly, and partner with Fashion Editors to develop shot count documents that outline the daily shoot schedule and number of shots per day
  • Manage tailoring resources / schedules to coincide with fit and tailoring needs • Negotiate model fees/rates, maintain close relations with model agents and schedule go-see’s
  • Provide shot lists at beginning of every shoot
  • Establish relationships with model agencies in order to ensure team has visibility to top modeling talent when casting. Build model portfolio for all past, current and future prospects for reference while casting new talent, or developing existing team
  • Manage studio space set up for all teams: hair, makeup, stylists, fit area, catering and ensure that studio is always organized and neat
  • Manage the overall maintenance of the studio sets with regards to supplies, set painting and equipment organization
  • Build network of talent

  

 Shoot:

  • Responsible for kicking off the shoot week and informing the internal team of expectations. Leading production meetings
  • Communicate project status daily; keeping abreast of any potential challenges that may offset timelines
  • Multitask and manage multiple, overlapping photo shoots of varying levels at various stages, and quickly put together the right resources and teams needed
  • Plan, organize and budget time and projects in an efficient and productive manner that manages and sets realistic expectations

    

Post-Production:

  • Partner with photo teams at end of shoot to determine next steps for fashion sets / equipment
  • Process all purchase orders / invoices in a timely manner
  • Manage any crew, vendor, or model concerns / disputes
  • Ensure budget workbooks are up-to-date so that month-end budgets can be finalized
  • Partner closely with Operations Manager on weekly and quarterly budget. Help forecast upcoming quarterly spend against approved budgets
  • Hindsight monthly photo shoots to Improve overall studio efficiencies and processes

  

Who You Are:

  • 3-5 years professional experience in a high volume, high production digital operations environment
  • Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships both inside and outside the company, especially with talent and model agencies
  • Must demonstrate tenacity and willingness to go the distance to get the job done
  • Generate new and innovative approaches to challenges • Flexible and adaptable. Can adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions
  • Strong and Confident Presence. Passionate about fashion industry and production
  • Impact the overall company budget by continually managing efficiencies and resources in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Propensity for breaking down complex workflows into manageable parts and managing to specific deadlines
  • Measure and report on progress
  • Anticipate and resolve bottlenecks offering unique creative solutions
  • Balance the business needs with studio bandwidth
  • Handle the logistics of a shoot so that creative can be creative
  • Fashion aptitude – creative and innovative
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Excel, Oracle, PowerPoint, Photoshop a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Previous experience working in shoot production or in a creative agency setting • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills

    

Relationships:

Internal – Studio Staff, Finance, Accounts Payable, IT, Security, Visual, Creative, Marketing, Merchandising External – All freelance shoot personnel (photographers, assistants, stylists, digital techs., hair, makeup and tailors), talent and casting agencies. Outside vendors for photo equipment, or props
