Talbots is looking for a full-time Digital Art Director with a creative conceptual mind and technical ability to work on-site in our Hingham, MA office. The Digital Art Director is responsible for conceptual development and the execution of creative deliverables for talbots.com. These responsibilities include developing creative concepts, designing UX/UI focused solutions, and crafting interactive advertising campaigns. The role requires the ability to present and sell in ideas as well as work hands-on to deliver work with precision and excellence. Reporting to the Creative Director, the Art Director will collaborate with merchandising, copywriters, wed developers, production specialists, and marketing. Balancing creative thinking with interpersonal skills, this person will demonstrate an ability to justify concepts to both Talbots and the project team. 

 

If you’re a UX/UI design craftsman who possesses an excellent eye for detail and a passion for creating things - we’d love to meet you! Although, the role does involve some advertising work it requires significant experience designing digital platforms and websites. If your portfolio is solely advertising centric, this is not the right position for you. 



The Ideal Candidate 

 

  • 3-5 years of digital design experience 
  • Experience with vertical omni retailers
  • Understand of promotional hierarchy based on business needs 
  • You are passionate about graphic design, typography, and story telling
  • Expert in Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and Bridge)
  • Experience using Sketch and other UI prototyping tools 
  • Experience with UX/UI driven projects 
  • Experience in designing responsive websites (a must!) 
  • Must be highly detail-focused and able to design and lead systematic design projects 
  • Experience developing concept-driven digital ad campaigns 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple design requests in a timely manner 
  • Flexible and self-motivated; someone who can seamlessly switch between a diversity of projects 
  • Industrious and enthusiastic about producing well-crafted work 
  • Has an online portfolio to share 
  • Has the ability to think creatively and justify concepts to clients and team members 
  • Has a proven aptitude for quick creative thinking with acute attention to detail within demanding deadlines 
  • Has excellent design presentation and persuasion skills 
  • Is positive, constructive and accountable for own actions 
  • Is curious, and unafraid to learn and implement new tools and technologies 



Responsibilities 

 

  • Reinterpreting catalog & retail creative into web content
  • Generating responsive web experiences for exclusive web content
  • Work with the team to foster ideas from inception through production 
  • Juggle multiple projects and deadlines 
  • Brainstorming big ideas in a group setting and express your opinion 
  • Make fast adjustments to designs based on data and feedback 
  • Think creatively and justify concepts to clients and team members 
  • Design systematic design solutions with creativity and precision
  • Maintaining relevancy in the field by monitoring digital trends & competitors

  • Bachelor's in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Fine Arts or a related field 
  • Video/Motion Graphics experience 
  • Office 365
  • Workfront (project management)
  • 3D or CGI experience 
  • VR, AR, Unity or Unreal experience
