Position Title: Technical Services Assistant

External Description:

Basic Purpose:

Talbots frequently reaches outside the company for staff augmentation on its’ helpdesk, pc/user support, networking, and other technical services teams. The basic purpose of this part time position is to augment the permanent internal teams needing temporary additional staffing to timely deliver projects. Further, candidates successful in this position provide a viable and vetted pipeline of candidates who may be considered for full time permanent employment.

Dimensions:

This position will rotate between the various permanent internal teams based upon project workload, support workload, project timelines, and the resource considerations of the various teams. Associates in this position will work on diverse technologies spanning the entirety of the technical services domain such as virtualization, server hardware/software support, networks, phone systems, email, end user support, etc.

Principal Accountabilities:

While specific accountabilities will vary by assignment generally this team member be accountable for timely working through lists of documented tasks, resolving issues captured in our ticket tracking system, and preparing regular status reports on work accomplished.

 

Knowledge / Experience / Education:

The knowledge, experience, and education expected to be successful in this position are the technical or programming skills generally acquired by the 3rd year of university study in a computer science, math, physics, or other similarly tracked technical or sciences program.

Skills:

The most important skills for this position are the ability to independently pursue knowledge through books, the web, and other resources as necessary to solve problems and a desire/willingness to learn new and unfamiliar technology. As an entry level position requiring little or no prior experience the traits of ingenuity, enthusiasm, and self motivation are critical.
