Position Title: Business Intelligence Developer

External Description:

This position is responsible for the design & development of reporting solutions at Talbots. The Business Intelligence Application Developer must have a deep understanding of Microstrategy toolset to build user friendly reporting solutions.  The developer will participate in full-life cycle of design, develop, implement, enhance and support such solutions.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate complex business requirements into reports, documents and dashboards
• Quickly iterate and prototype on business requirements to arrive at a finished reports that aligns with end user expectations
• Prepares estimates for reports/projects to provide management with information needed to accurately forecast delivery dates
• Design, develop and deliver Microstrategy reports per plan
• Convert SSRS based BI report into Microstrategy Reports
• Support business testing cycles and assist in user training
• Write SQL scripts against the MSSQL/Azure SQL based warehouse to support analysis, discovery, and testing of reports
• Create Microstrategy's dashboard solutions for mobile devices
• Successfully extend reporting architecture as new solutions/applications are introduced to the data warehouse
• Enable enterprise wide self-service reporting using Dossier
• Partner with Microstrategy administrator to tune system performance/settings
• Adhere to Talbots SDLC process
• Perform other relevant tasks related to Business Intelligence as requested from time-to-time
• Provide input into the current and future Microstrategy architectural requirements & design
• The candidate will interact with a diverse set of teams, application including developers, business analysts, quality assurance, infrastructure, user communities, and senior management
• Provide production support to existing systems and participate in on-call rotation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

• Expertise in Microstrategy 2019 reporting software and MSSQL 2017
• Mobile and desktop Microstrategy report development expertise
• Self-motivated with an ability to confidently execute independently with little direction
• Ability to analyze and apply critical thinking to resolve complex issues
• Strong problem solving skills with ability to work well under pressure
• Strong team and relationship building skills
• Ability to prioritize requests and set expectations
• Working Knowledge in data warehousing concepts
• Retail Industry experience strongly preferred
• Motivation to stay up-to-speed on industry best practices and new technologies
• Aptitude to manage delivery of reporting solutions, draft technical and training documents
• Outstanding communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
• Exposure or working experience with other reporting tools: Microsoft Power BI, Tableau or IBM Cognos

 

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or business related field
• Must have 3+ years of Microstrategy report development
• 3 + years’ experience with Data Warehouse design/development
• 3 + years’ experience with SQL Query Design
• 1+ years’ experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud
