Position Title: Asst Merchant-Outlet

External Description:

This position is responsible for aiding the Merchant in the selection of merchandise and in the planning process of the department. This position conducts analyses, proposes re-orders and assures that all issues are followed through to completion.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conduct weekly analysis of stock sales by classification, identify trends, select best sellers and propose reorders
• Initiate and perform analysis; complete ad hoc analytical assignments from Merchant/DMM
• Assist the Merchant in the selection of merchandise and assortment planning with analytically based recommendations
• Assist in interpreting open-to-buy, sales plan changes, and markdown events. Break purchase orders by color and size 
• Communicate with Product Management concerning late deliveries, cancellations, quality issues, returns to vendors, and markdown allowances 
• Identify merchandise features and visual issues for communication to stores 
• Shop competition weekly and visit Talbots stores regularly to gain insight in the marketplace 
• Procure, verify, and correct all pertinent information on merchandise and submit to merchandise systems for order processing

Qualifications

• College dree 
• 1-2 years of experience such as an allocator of comparable position 
• Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Possess analytical skills and the ability to work with figures, PC, and mainframe applications
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
