Position Title: Data Warehouse Developer

External Description:

This position is responsible for the architect, development and maintenance of Talbots enterprise data warehouse. The BI/Data warehouse Developer must have a deep understanding of enterprise data warehouse and reporting solutions.  The developer will participate in full-life cycle of design, develop, implement, enhance, maintain and support such solutions.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Participate in data strategy initiatives and cloud transformation priorities of enterprise data warehouse/BI team

Enhance and support enterprise data warehouse and datamart

Proficient in writing complex SQL queries in MSSQL and Azure SQL platform

Adhere to SLA standards set for data warehouse availability

 Participate on-call/support activities

Provide data support to business users based on requirements

Architect and maintain virtual data warehouse layer to facilitate Microstrategy reporting

Assist BI team in migration of SSRS/SSAS based legacy solutions

Ensure quality and integrity of data within the EDW

Create SSIS packages and Autosys schedule

Enable scalable enterprise wide self-service reporting capability using modern data warehouse features (in memory/columnar store)

Work with administrator in performance tuning of SQL server

Understand the retail industry and business context of the data

Understand and execute good development practices through a SDLC process laid out

Perform other duties as requested from time-to-time

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Expertise in using MSSQL 2017 features to design Enterprise Data Warehouse

Strong SQL and Azure Cloud skills

Self-motivated with an ability to confidently execute independently with little direction

Ability to analyze and apply critical thinking to resolve complex issues

Strong problem solving skills with ability to work well under pressure

Strong team and relationship building skills

Ability to prioritize requests and set expectations

Working Knowledge in data warehousing concepts

Expertise developing SSIS/SSAS/SSRS

Retail Industry experience strongly preferred

Motivation to stay up-to-speed on industry best practices and new technologies

Aptitude to manage delivery of reporting solutions, draft technical and training documents

Outstanding communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)

Exposure or working experience with Databricks (ELT/ETL),  Azure datalake, Azure SQL server/data warehouse.

 

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or business related field

5+ years’ experience Data Warehouse design/development

5+ years’ experience SQL Query Design

2+ years’ experience Microsoft Azure Cloud Experience
